Allegiant Air traffic increases

Allegiant Air, which operates a hub at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in east Mesa, reported another month of large traffic gains in August.

The Las Vegas-based carrier said it flew 465,783 passengers during the month, a 35 percent increase over the same month a year ago.

The airline flew a total of 410 million revenue passenger miles, up 36 percent, while available seat miles increased to 469.7 million, up 41 percent. Allegiant's planes flew an average of 87 percent full, a decline of 3.2 percent from the previous year.
