Gilbert Unified School District, and many other East Valley Districts, are working through the first phase of implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These high-quality standards, adopted by Arizona, along with 44 other states, are part of a national movement toward providing a common rigorous and relevant education to children across the United States. Designed to develop 21st century globally competitive students, the CCSS were carefully constructed using evidence-based research to create college and career ready students upon high school graduation.

The district will host a forum to cover the origin of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and outline how Gilbert Unified School District is implementing these standards.

The forum will also cover Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College (PARCC). PARCC is a 22-state consortium working together to develop next-generation K-12 tests in English and Math.

The forums are being held 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Highland High School, 4301 E. Guadalupe Road; and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Gilbert High School, 1101 E. Elliot Road.
