A carwash is being held Saturday to benefit a San Tan Valley teen who is currently in California awaiting a heart transplant.

Hana Hornbeck, a freshman at Combs High School, has lived in the area for about three years. She fainted on Sept. 17, and was subsequently diagnosed with a rare heart disease called giant cell myocarditis, a disease that involves rapid deterioration of heart muscles.

While her family has insurance, they are trying to raise money for other expenses they are incurring related to Hana’s treatments. They have set up a bank account at Wells Fargo under Hana’s name. The account number is 9931108246. The family is also selling T-shirts.

More information about donations and the shirts is available through Hana’s Facebook fan page, which can be found by searching for Hana’s name on www.facebook.com.

The carwash will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Circle K on the northeast corner of Guadalupe and McClintock roads in Tempe.
