MESA, AZ - A pit bull puppy that has been recovering from serious injuries since March is now ready to be taken home by a loving family.
Miles, at 9-weeks old, was taken in by Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary after he had been severely beaten with a sledgehammer.
Thanks to donations from the community, Miles was able to undergo surgery on both of his legs, but surgeons later decided his front left leg was in such bad shape that it had to be amputated.
Miles is receiving help from Hanger Clinic, the company known for developing the prosthetic tail in the movie Dolphin Tale. Specialists are working with Miles to determine if he is a candidate for a prosthetic leg.

This is so very sad. I can never understand how a person can deliberately be cruel to another creature, human or otherwise. I'm across country and supporting various ferals, but I hope someone opens their heart to this puppy; it looks very sweet and deserves a loving family.

Anyone that deliberately harms an animal is one themselves. There are some species that are more aggressive than others. These animals that have a propensity to attack should be tagged and registered. Un responsible owners have allowed their pets to maim and even kill, while on the prowl. Pit bulls aren't family friendly, ask a parent that has a child scarred for life------physically and emotionally.

you are wrong k33j88. Pit bulls have an undeserved reputation. Yes, years ago they were bred for fighting. But if they are treated with kindness from birth, rarely do they attack or bite without provocation. This animal is an example. Left in the same environment, it would have eventually attacked or bitten someone. Then we would have heard the same old cliché’s, "why do they keep such viscous animals?" But then, this is true with any dog or animal including humans.
