A man who said he was meeting someone in the parking lot of a Mesa Sportsman's Warehouse to sell an AR-15 rifle after setting up the sale on backpage.com, was robbed instead on Sunday.

The victim told police when he met the other man about 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 1750 S. Greenfield Road, the suspect pointed a handgun at him, stole the rifle, cell phone and truck keys before driving away in a light blue/gray Ford Fusion or Taurus.

As the suspect was driving away, the victim pulled a handgun and fired it at his vehicle three times, hitting a Valley Metro van, but no one was injured, according to police.

It wasn't immediately known if the victim was facing any charges for firing on the vehicle in the parking lot.

The suspect is described as a white male about 30 years old with a shaved head and weighing about 190 pounds. Officers are continuing to investigate the crime to see if they can identify him.

The "victim" should be charged, the perp was drivung away and the "victim" was no longer in danger. Cant see where the parking lot would offer a safe kill zone either.
    Some people shouldn't own firearms.

I agree arizonaboy. An innocent bystander could have just as easily caught one of his rounds. What an idiot.

Yes, the shooter should be charged for unlawful dischager of a firearm. And yes, some people should not own guns. And yes he's an idiot.
His irresponsible discharge of a firearm is more ammunition to anti-gun lobbists. No pun intended.[wink]

These classifieds sites like craigslist or http://www.classivox.com crack me up. There is a lot of illegal stuff going on in them!

I'm sorry, but I laugh my tush off every time I read about some fool messing around on the internet and getting s*c*r*e*w*e*d by it (the moron puritans here censored my original spelling). You have to be mighty stupid or desperate to meet anyone you don't know and "met" on the internet to transact "business" with that person. A fool and his money (or life) are soon parted. Unbelievable.

DrJCA1 , this is the world we live in. Some transactions can be conducted safely, just do it in a public environment. Granted an exchange such as this can't be that 'public' but then it should apply to real life situation also. You can't just close down entire sections like they did with craigslist, another will appear like http://www.classivox.com for example anyway.
