A bicycle bandit is accused of stealing a woman's purse as she was walking through the parking lot of a Panda Express in Mesa on Thursday.

The woman told police that the suspect rode up to her on a kid-sized mountain bike and snatched the purse off her shoulder about 8:15 p.m. near the restaurant at 1950 E. University Drive.

He was last seen riding the bike near the Covina Court Apartments and the Asante Apartments at 1800 E. Covina, police said.

The woman was not injured during the strong-arm robbery.

The suspect is described as an approximately 28-year-old black male, 5-feet 8-inches to 6-feet tall, 130-140 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a beanie. A witness recalled seeing the suspect in the area several times previously.

Anyone with information about this crime can call Mesa police at (480) 644-2211.
