This year alone, Arizona has lost seven of its law enforcement officers in the line of duty, an abnormally high number, according to Laura Fisher, executive director of the Arizona Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors.

In support of their families, the Arizona Chapter of COPS is hosting the 8th annual “Run to Remember” on Jan. 7 at Verrado High School in Buckeye.

The non-profit seeks to help the family members of those law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty by providing them with counseling, long-term support through programs, and education on how to “rebuild their shattered lives” after the death of an officer.

To participate in the event, find the link to register at www.arizonacops.org. Registration costs $25. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in five age groups. T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registration.
