Mesa Police investigate break-in at Poston Junior High

Two suspects Mesa police believed are responsible for breaking into three vending machines with a cutting torch at Poston Junior High School early Sunday remain on the loose while officers are continuing to investigate the incident.

Police responded to the school at 2433 E. Adobe St. about 3:45 a.m. after a possible burglary in progess was reported by a reserve police officer who said he saw two male suspects run from the scene, one carrying a backpack.

Officers discovered currency on the ground near the machines which had the money boxes removed.

Police discovered that the gate to part of the school's campus had been cut and school security officers told police that the same vending machines also had been broken into a few hours earlier.

One of the suspects is described as a white male about 25 years old with blond hair, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male.
