Authorities have removed a body found floating in the Tempe Canal on the Tempe-Mesa border.

Mesa Fire Department officials say the body of a man was spotted Thursday by a resident of nearby apartment complex near the canal. That person called 911.

Authorities say it's not known how long the body had been in the water and the man hasn't been identified yet.

Mesa police are investigating the death.

I wounder if this person used a fake ID to get into a bar, pissed over the balcony and then stumbled into the canal?

Jug, That's actually a good question! Got a balcony in mind? I'm glad Mesa PD is looking at this incident. Somebody is worrying about this person. Maricopa County has too many unidentified bodies. Recently, on the west side of the county a body was retrieved from part of the canal system. I don't know how the Co. ME came out on that autopsy. I do hope part of the investigative process includes a case comparison.
