The Mesa Unified School District will hold a meeting 6 p.m. Thursday at Eisenhower Elementary School, 848 N. Mesa Dr., to explain a proposal to turn the school into a campus of “innovation” next school year.

The effort is part of the district’s “transforming education” proposal. The district is also looking at closing Jordan Elementary School in Chandler as a neighborhood campus and creating a program for students with extreme special needs, as well as opening more preschool classrooms.

Information about these proposals can be found on the district website at www.mpsaz.org/future.

The first hearing about the closure of Jordan Elementary School will be held 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Summit Academy, 1560 W. Summit Place, Chandler. A second hearing will be part of the governing board’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at 549 N. Stapley Road, Mesa.
