Mesa vice mayor to host blood drive, pancake breakfast

Mesa Vice Mayor and District 6 Councilmember Scott Somers will host a free community pancake breakfast and Red Cross blood drive beginning 8 a.m. Feb. 9 at Fire Station No. 219, located at 3361 S. Signal Butte Road. The pancake breakfast will last 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the blood drive will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

City departments will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the City of Mesa and the Mesa Fire and Medical Department will provide pancakes free of charge. The Red Cross has set a goal of 30 donors for the blood drive. To schedule your donation time, contact city council assistant Ian Linssen at (480) 644-5295 or at ian.linssen@mesaaz.gov. Donors will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gas card and donors are also eligible to receive a voucher for a buy one get one free ticket offer from the Phoenix Suns.
