The possible relocation of the downtown Scottsdale post office to a site northwest of Scottsdale and Mc-Dowell roads will be the subject of a public meeting this week.

United States Postal Service officials will conduct the meeting between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday at the Scottsdale Stadium Team Shop, 7408 E. Osborn Road.

The Scottsdale Main Post Office is currently located at 7252 E. Osborn Road, between Scottsdale Road and Drinkwater Boulevard in a 1960s-era building.

Scottsdale Healthcare, which owns the land around the downtown post office, bought the Breuners Furniture store at 1776 N. Scottsdale Road as a site to move the post office.

Relocating the post office about 1 1/2 miles to the south would allow Scottsdale Healthcare to expand its Osborn campus.

The family-owned furniture store plans to close after about 40 years at the site.
