Phoenix police investigating a series of shootings across the Valley, today arrested the brother of Serial Shooter suspect Dale Hausner on suspicion of attempted murder.

Jeffrey Hausner, 40, of Phoenix, was taken into police custody but is not a suspect in any of the crimes that the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has charged against Dale Hausner and Samuel Dieteman, police said.

Dietman and Dale Hausner are facing charges of first-degree murder, 14 counts of attempted murder, 14 counts of aggravated assault and 16 counts of drive-by shooting. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for both men. The pair was arrested on August 4 after a 14-month spree of human and animal shootings across the Valley. Police had linked 37 shooting incidents, and seven killings, to the Serial Shooter case.

According to police, Jeffrey Hausner stabbed a panhandler on April 14 outside a store at 7333 W. Thomas Road. He was with Dieteman at the time.

The victim said the two men escaped in a car, but he didn’t see either get into the driver’s seat. The man told police he didn’t get a good look at the driver.

The stabbing, if tied to the Serial Shooter case, would be the 38th incident.
