Starting in August, you can show your support for local charities by buying and wearing a giving band featuring that agency's logo. The bands will be sold for $9.97 at 45 Goodwill retail locations as part of a partnership between Goodwill of Central Arizona and Charity Charms. Proceeds will benefit Arizona Humane Society, Fresh Start Women's Foundation, Ryan House, Sojourner Center, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, A New Leaf, St. Mary's Food Bank, Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS), and Goodwill of Arizona.

"We believe in this campaign and that's why we presented the proceed checks of $1,350 to each nonprofit before the bands are in our stores," Jackie Halleen, vice president of retail operations at Goodwill, said in a news release. "Our hope is it will grow and provide additional resources for all of the charities for many years to come."

STARS and Goodwill's Senior Community Service Employment Program helped assemble the giving bands and displays.

Shoppers and supporters can visit any Goodwill retail location to purchase a giving band beginning Aug. 1. To find the Goodwill store nearest you, visit www.goodwillaz.org.
