Chandler City Manager Mark Pentz has been selected for a professional excellence award by the nonprofit Arizona City/County Management Association.

The award is intended to recognize city or county managers who demonstrate the highest level of professional excellence in local government and who have made life contributions in serving the profession. It is the highest honor that ACMA bestows upon an active member.

Pentz was awarded the honor for his longtime commitment to advancing the understanding of city management as a profession and encouraging the professional advancement and education of staff. The award will be presented at the Chandler City Council meeting 7 p.m. Thursday in the Downtown Chandler Library, 22 S. Delaware St.
