FILE PHOTO - Part of the Starlite Motel's Diving Lady sign was on display at Mesa's Fiesta Mall.
The Starlite Motel's "Diving Lady" sign on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, will be taken to Fiesta Mall where it will be on display for the next several months in hopes of eliciting donations for its restoration.
East Mesa's neon-sign decorated corridor harkens back to a bygone era that no longer sees the number of tourists flocking to places such as Starlite Motel along Main Street. Feb. 20, 2009

WHERE IS MAJOR SCOTT SMITH....HE'S A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE.
THE WAY HE HAS BEEN THROWING AROUND MESA'S TAX-PAYERS BOND OBLIGATIONS ($100 MILLION FOR A NEW SPRING TRAINING STADIUM FOR THE CUBS THAT LOOKS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE THE OLD SPRING TRAINING STADIUM FOR THE CUBS = HOHOKAM FIELD)..........$25,000.00....WOULD BE "CHUMP CHANGE".......FOR THIS HIGH-ROLLING "NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED" POLITICIAN. ......REMEMBER THE OLD "GOOD BOOK" STORY ABOUT THE .......CAMEL PASSING THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE....ETC.

Leon, for once I agree with your sentiment.
As for the "camel passing through the eye of a needle", I think about that moral lesson every time I drive by the lavish Mormon Temple that sits on acres of tax exempt prime real estate.
