The nonprofit group that promotes downtown Mesa has selected a new executive director, choosing the person who currently oversees the downtown of Fort Collins, Colo. The Downtown Mesa Association hired David Short, who will begin his duties here on Nov. 1.
Short will run an organization that has been pushed by downtown merchants and city leaders to be more effective in marketing the area and attracting visitors. Short will replace Tom Verploegen, who resigned in April after serving as the only executive director in the DMA's 25-year history.

I understand your optimism MP, but Im sick of these nonprofit, lame duck organizations that have so much potential, but the boards pick horrible leaders. So Im not too sure about this new guy at all. Hes older and I feel he will be the same ol lame duck Mesa gets and hires. No life, no youth, energetic, innovative thinkers in these positions. No wonder Mesa is the most boringness places in the country. Nothing changes, no new exciting businesses or young professionals are relocating here. Light rail is not going to change this, it’s the leaders, its those who are making decisions. It’s the same ol schmucks in the good ol boys network. Im talking about DMA and WMCDC. Areas that need young leaders to revitalize those areas. The cdc was thriving with Richins, but took many steps back after JoEllen and now Cynthia Dunham, the HOA wacko is director. She has no clue what she is doing. I guess that is what happens when you put in a HOA person. duh, duh, duh, I dont know anything but to control your life!
Plus, its time to fire everyone on the DMA’s board! It’s the good ol boys network, people who don’t show up, and a dictator who makes all the decisions. What a bunch of losers they are, and this organization reflects it. You want a thriving downtown, than get rid of all of these clowns, even the city staff. Lame ducks, pathetic people that just want to collect a check and do nothing. Yeah, that’s what Mesa needs.

Im happy the DMA has finally moved on and selected a new Ex Dir. I felt like they have been in a state of funk for a long time. Hopefully this new director can change things up, take the excitement of the grass roots organizations of the merchants, represent them to continue to promote downtown and put on events. If not, we are getting the same ol do nothing puppet director we have had in the past. This is downtowns opportunity to shine, to thrive and finally take the next step of becoming a great place that the Mayor promised. Support downtown mesa, support the local businesses! The potential is there and is being realized. Now leadership has to get on board and stop putting up more red tape.

Ha, that is funny next up. Im not too sure about this new cat that is coming from CSU country. Seems like his organization has had some problems up there, and he did not sound too accountable. Lets hope that this guy can actually do his job unlike Tommy V did. He overpaid himself by doing nothing. Wish I could make that kind of cash making things worse and being a puppet to Susan. But honestly, I hope it works out. If not, say good bye to DMA…………..if the council and brady have the balls to finally cut funding to them.

WooHoo! Cant wait to see the DMA suck more wasteful money out of us tax payers. Very excited to see how Susan Tibshraeny and her minions try to push their anti everything, kill downtown even more agenda on the new director. Its time to shut that women up.
