PHOENIX — President Barack Obama has named the president and chief executive of the Phoenix Zoo to the National Museum and Library Services Board.
Bert Castro will continue to direct the zoo after he takes a seat on the board. The U.S. Senate must confirm the nomination.
The board advises leaders of the Institute of Museums and Library Services on general policy, practices and award selections.
Castro has led the Zoo since 2008, and was executive director of the Oklahoma City Zoological Park and Botanical Garden from 2002-2008.
