Chandler Regional Medical Center is offering free oral health screenings for children from birth through age 5 who are enrolled at Chandler/Gilbert Family YMCA.

The event will take place 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the YMCA, 1655 W. Frye Road, Chandler. Children will receive a free dental screening and fluoride varnish, as well as a referral to a local dental office if necessary.

Children and parents will both receive oral health education, including the importance of seeing a dentist by age 1 and establishing a dental home for the child. Chandler Regional Medical Center received a grant to offer this program through First Things First's Central Maricopa Regional Council.

Additional screenings will be offered in July and August and will be open to the public. Information: Megan Miks at (480) 728-3813.
