Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire Saturday afternoon at an industrial laundromat in Tempe.

Emergency crews rushed to Cintas about 3 p.m. at 214 S. Rockford St. after several bags of laundry caught fire, setting off an alarm, said Mike Reichling, a Tempe Fire Department spokesman.

Stacks of laundry bags inside the building slowed firefighters from getting to the source of the blaze, Reichling said. Crews were able to limit the damage to a small area.

Authorities will investigate whether the piles of laundry violated city fire codes.
