Residents of about 40 Chandler neighborhoods will gather together in their communities 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 as part of the Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, or GAIN, event.

Also known as National Night Out, the purpose of the event is to promote neighborhood safety and celebrate crime prevention through community involvement.

Chandler police from all parts of the department will attend the neighborhood parties and answer questions, and specialty equipment will be on display at several venues.
