The Mayo Clinic in northeast Phoenix has fired a surgeon who took photos of a patient’s tattooed genitals and showed them to other colleagues.
Surgeon faces discipline for photo of genitals
In a statement posted Friday on the hospital’s Web site, CEO Denis Cortese states that Dr. Adam Hansen “is no longer practicing medicine at Mayo Clinic.”
Hansen, chief resident of general surgery, admitted taking a photo with his cell phone Dec. 11 of a tattoo on strip club owner Sean Dubowik’s penis that reads “Hot Rod.”
Dubowik, who had undergone a gallbladder operation, learned of the photo Monday.
Hospital officials are also trying to identify the person who initially reported the incident at the hospital to the media.
