Memorial services are set for longtime Arizona Republican lawmaker Jake Flake.Flake, who served in the state House before being elected to the Senate, died Sunday at his home near Snowflake of an apparent heart attack. He was 72.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints East Stake Center in Phoenix.
The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Friday at the LDS church's Snowflake Main Street Chapel.
Meanwhile, the process of filling the Senate vacancy created by Flake's death begins Tuesday.
The Navajo County Board of Supervisors will hold a meeting to pick a nine-member citizens panel to come up with three potential replacements.
The panel is to complete its work Thursday, and the Board of Supervisors hopes to fill the vacancy Friday.
