Gilbert Unified School District's governing board voted Tuesday to reinstate a 2 percent salary increase for administrators.

The administrative salary schedule was cut last year 2 percent while officials were grappling with cuts from the state.

The board unanimously approved the 2010-2011 administrative salary schedule - which includes principals, assistant principals, deans and coordinators - to restore that 2 percent and bring the salaries back to the 2008-2009 level, board president Thad Stump said.

I hope they brought back all teachers that may have been released due to the budget first. Otherwise, shame, shame, shame...

Great news! We are in a budget crisis, but those at the top of the tetem pole get raises. All the while, teachers are getting cut and classroom sizes are getting larger.

Now isn't this great news. July 6, the school board is going to be voting on an INCREASE of our primary PROPERTY TAXES -- it will be going up from 16 dollars to 27 dolllars on accessed value. The administration gets a pay increase as does every form of govenrnment and unions, while the rest of our nation takes pay cuts and job losses.

It is looking like we need a new school board and a new school administration that can take the hit of the economy like the rest of us! Are these people brain dead or are they part of our federal administration that wants to tax and then tax some more.

Stop the insane spending and make the cuts---starting at the administrative offices!

How can this Governing Board restore bureaucrats salary reduction, and then turn around and vote to increase Gilbert residents' property taxes? Public hearing on 7/6 /2010 regarding this issue. Also I understood that Prop 100 wasn't "enough." So, they can pay the bureaucrats, but not educate our kids?

It seems to me that the Students, Classooms, and Teachers get the leftovers or nothing at all?

You are exactly right GilbertWatch---they always want more money to educate the children, but where does it go---to the administrators! The 'fluff' of the system rather than the core of system.
