PHOENIX - A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled Friday that the trial for two suspected serial killers should remain in Phoenix for now.

Judge James H. Keppel rejected a motion by defense attorney Garrett Simpson to move the trial of Dale S. Hausner outside of Maricopa County.

Keppel said it's too early to decide whether the people in the county have received too much information about the case to give Hausner a fair trial.

"The time to decide whether there's too much media coverage should be decided shortly before the trial," Keppel said at a hearing Friday in the County Superior Court.

Hausner, 33, is accused of killing two people and wounding others in a shooting spree this summer. His roommate, Samuel John Dieteman, is also accused in the crimes.
