The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, a comprehensive survey of the health and nutritional status of the U.S. population, got underway in Maricopa County this week. Each year, residents in 15 counties across the nation have the chance to participate in the survey, conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Residents will have an invitation-only opportunity to participate in either the adult or youth surveys. Contact will be made initially through the mail, followed by a home interview and a health examination in Phoenix. Individuals who agree to participate will receive compensation for their time and travel expenses.
