Mesa Air Group files for bankruptcy

On the same day that it filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group said it received notice Tuesday from the Nasdaq Stock Market that the company's shares will be delisted. The company said it does not plan to appeal the decision.

As a result, trading in the company's common stock will be suspended at the opening of business on Jan. 14, the airline said.

The company's stock may become eligible for trading on the OTC Bulletin Board or in the "Pink Sheets" if a market maker applies to register and quote the securities, Mesa said.

Since the bankruptcy filing, the airline's stock has been trading at about 5 cents a share.
