Orbital Sciences Corp. will officially open its new Arizona Program Management Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at 3377 S. Price Road, Chandler.

The addition to the company's south Chandler campus will provide additional space for design of space-launch vehicles, plus engineering, production and program management functions, the company said.

The new building is located across the street from the company's existing plant at Price and Dobson roads, which houses the company's Launch Systems Group. With the expansion, Orbital will employ about 1,450 people at its facilities on South Price Road.

Among the speakers are expected to be Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn and Orbital Chief Executive David Thompson.

The Dulles, Va., company plans to add up to 150,000 more square feet of office and engineering space capable of housing another 600 employees during the next few years, subject to future business needs.
