Maricopa County Air Quality Department has issued a No Burn Day for Friday, Dec. 30 starting at 12:01 a.m. and ending at midnight.
The 24-hour restrictions include a ban on wood burning activities like fireplaces, fire pits and open outdoor burning. This also includes manufactured or wax logs.
The regulation stems from the fine particles health watch issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Furthermore, the air quality forecast indicates stagnant weather conditions will continue. This will only help to increase the concentrations of fine particulates in the air. Combustion from wood burning fires is a strong contributor to the pollution the Valley is experiencing.
