Chandler police are searching for the person who built and planted a pipe bomb at an apartment complex.

Police tell KTVK-TV landscapers working at the complex near Alma School and Knox roads discovered a suspicious looking device, what appeared to be a pipe bomb, in the bushes Wednesday morning.

Chandler police Detective Seth Tyler says the device was indeed an explosive and whoever made it knew exactly what they were doing.

The bomb was a 4- to 6-inch length of galvanized pipe with caps on each side. It was about 1 inch in diameter and there was a fuse on one end of the pipe.
