According to the National Education Association, 92 percent of public school teachers spend, on average, $475 on classroom materials for their students. In the East Valley, Treasures 4 Teachers, a 501(c)3 organization, tries to help collecting unwanted, but reusable materials from the community and then putting these "treasures" - paper, pencils and other school supplies - into the hands of educators and students.
Treasures 4 Teachers, 2127 S. Priest Drive, Suite 406, Tempe, receives materials from manufacturers, businesses, other nonprofits, and private donations. Then those items are put on the show floor for teachers and others to browse. That's where you come in. Treasures 4 Teachers needs volunteers to help stock the floor and organize the warehouse so it's more efficient.
No special skills are required, but you need to be at least 21. This is a great volunteer opportunity for anyone, but especially those who are going into the teaching field.
