Scottsdale police Friday night announced an arrest in the hit-and-run death of a prominent East Valley commercial real estate tycoon's son.

Sgt. Mark Clark said in an email that Cristino Torres-Romero, 33, of Tempe was arrested Friday afternoon after an anonymous tip on Tuesday. He said Torres-Romero was arrested without incident and his Ford F-150 pickup truck showed evidence consistent with the damage that would have resulted from an impact with Daniel Pollack, 31, of Chandler in the early hours of Sept. 11.

Clark said Torres-Romero admitted to fleeing after striking Pollack on Hayden Road north of Thomas Road and is being held in the Scottsdale City Jail on one felony count of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Pollack's family had offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the hit-and-run. His father is shopping center owner and philanthropist Michael Pollack.

After the arrest, Michael and Cheryl Pollack released the following statement: “Last week we laid our son Daniel to rest. The arrest by the Scottsdale Police Department tonight cannot bring our son back, but it does bring our family’s gratitude and appreciation to Detective Rodger Paliwoda and the entire department for a job well done. They have taken a hit and run suspect off the streets and proven that the law will do right when people do wrong. Thank you to law enforcement, the public, our friends, family and everyone who has helped and provided kind words and prayers.”

Torres-Romero was probably a drunk illegal. This is their MO when they get in a collision.

Yep, AZCentral reported today that he is an illegal. But, he's just here to pick lettuce and tomatoes so it's ok.

I was right...I knew this guy would turn out to be an illegal. When are you bleeding heart liberals going to figure out these criminals are destroying our country from within? I bet, without a doubt, he was drunk when he fled the scene. These cockroaches have no respect for other people or American laws.

It sickens me to hear American citizens stand up for illegal immigrants and their rights after reading about all the crime they commit against Americans.

If I was in office, I would make it my goal to relieve this country of each and every illegal freeloading criminal slime...permanently.
