US Airways Group said Thursday its traffic declined slightly in August from the same month a year ago and that fares and other revenue sources remained substantially below last year.
Mainline revenue passenger miles flown during the month amounted to 5.5 billion, down 3.9 percent from August 2008. Capacity was 6.4 billion available seat miles, down 3.8 percent from a year ago, resulting in planes flying an average of 85.7 percent full, the same as a year ago.
But total revenue per available seat mile decreased about 13 percent compared with a year ago, said President Scott Kirby.
The Tempe-based airline reported that 81.4 percent of its flights were on time.
