Mesa Unified School District meets the needs of families, according to SchoolMatch.
The organization is honoring the district with the 2012 What Parents Want Award, given to only 16 percent of school districts nationwide.
The school-selection consulting firm, based in Ohio, based its awards on surveys of parents. Competitive test scores, accreditation, competitive teacher salaries and small class size are among the qualities parents look for, the organization states.
