Why wait until December to show your giving spirit, when you can give in the middle of summer? As part of their Christmas in July observance, guest services centers at Mesa's Fiesta Mall and Superstition Springs Center are accepting donations of clothing and supplies that foster children need for the upcoming school year.
Donations can be dropped off at the malls or at Helen's Hope Chest, 415 N. Pasadena, Mesa, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In addition, Rural/Metro-Southwest Ambulance's Mesa location, 708 W. Baseline Road, is accepting donations of jackets, windbreakers and winter coats for kids of all ages from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
And, from 5-6 p.m., July 23, Mrs. Claus will be at the Fiesta Mall Center Court to accept items and give each donor a free gift as part of the Christmas in July event.
All donations go to Helen's Hope Chest, Mesa United Way's free clothing, school supply and toy bank for local foster children, according to a news release. Needed items for newborns to 18-year-olds include: new underwear and socks, new and gently used children's clothing and shoes, backpacks and school supplies, diapers and other new baby supplies, toiletries, new and gently used toys and gift cards.
