A Mesa man was injured after impaling the bottom of his chin on a spear-headed metal railing of a fence around a swimming pool at a condominium complex on Sunday.
The man, whose name was not released but was said to be in his 20s, told police he had lost his key to the complex swimming pool at the Discovery at Continental Orchard complex, 921 W. University Drive near Alma School road and University Drive. When he tried to climb over the fence, he lost his footing.
It was not known how long the man was stuck, but he remained conscious while fire crews cut away a portion of the fence to help free him moments before he was transported to the hospital, according to the Mesa Fire Department.
