Mesa police say a man who repeatedly shot at officers while refusing to come out of his estranged wife's home for more than eight hours has been arrested by a SWAT team with only minor injuries.
Police spokesman Detective Steve Berry says the SWAT team never fired back at 54-year-old Dwayne Clayton even though he repeatedly shot at them.
Officers eventually crashed vehicles into the house and used a police dog to arrest Clayton just before dawn Saturday. He had only cuts and a dog bite.
The man's estranged wife called police Friday evening and told them her husband was at her house and had called her saying someone was going to die. Officers were met with gunfire.
Berry says officers showed patience in not firing at Clayton.
