Bring the whole family to Chandler Museum's first Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-off and savor the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the Old West that will be on display at Tumbleweed Ranch next Saturday, November 13.
This free event features a unique cooking competition as several chuck wagon teams will prepare a five-course meal including meat, beans, bread, potatoes and dessert in the style of 1880s cattle drives. You can catch the teams in action while they cook over open flames and in dutch ovens from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Event attendees also will be able to taste the variety of food samples for $2 or as a meal for $10.
In addition to the cooking demonstrations, there will be a musical performance from Arizona's own Pioneer Pepper and the Sunset Pioneers. Their "greatest, funniest, bestest Cowboy stage show around" will have you feeling at home on the range. You can also catch a hay ride, horse ride or visit the free petting zoo presented by Superstition Farm. There will be candle dipping and weaving demonstrations and Campfire Kettle Corn, Udder Delights and Chandler BBQ Co. will sell food concessions.
Parking and admission is free. Food is not included, and there will be small fees for the hay and horse rides. Tumbleweed Ranch is located in Tumbleweed Park, at the southwest corner of McQueen and Germann roads. The event is presented by the Chandler Museum and City of Chandler Community Services Department and sponsored by Fastsigns of Chandler, Superstition Farm, Biscuitflats Chuck Wagon, Shamrock Farms, Bonita Bean Company, Arizona Beef Council, Schnepf Farms and Serrano's Mexican Restaurants.
