Authorities say one University of Oklahoma student from China is dead and another injured after a BMW went off a cliff on an Arizona highway.
The state Department of Public Safety says the male driver was killed and that the male passenger had severe head injuries but was able to call for help early Wednesday morning.
Identities of the victims were not released.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves says it's not immediately known why the dark blue 2003 BMW 530i went off the 200-foot cliff.
The highway is a twisting, scenic route in the Tonto National Forest between the Phoenix area's eastern fringe and Roosevelt Dam.
Graves says the car may have been going too fast to make a curve on State Route 88.
Graves says the accident occurred on a drive to gaze at stars and that the students were visiting a friend at Arizona State University.
