Mesa is holding a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday for city residents.
The items accepted include paint, automotive fluids, batteries, prescription drugs, pesticides, pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, electronics and up to five tires. Mesa asks the items are in original containers when possible or that the contents are labeled. The city will not accept industrial waste, 55-gallon drums or large truck tires.
The event is free, but Mesa residents are asked to show their most recent trash bill. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Center Street Facility, 2412 N. Center St. For more information, call (480) 644-2221 or visit
