To register a student in the Mesa Unified School District this summer, take a certified copy of your child's birth certificate, current immunization record and proof of residence to the Curriculum Services Center, 549 N. Stapley Drive, Mesa.
The office is open between 8 a.m. and noon or 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The center will be closed July 5. Elementary school offices will reopen later in July.
All elementary schools offer free full-day kindergarten for children who will be 5 years old before Sept. 1. Half-day kindergarten programs are offered at Hermosa Vista and Zaharis elementary schools.
There are also back-to-basics programs with half-day kindergarten at Franklin East, Franklin Northeast or Franklin West schools. A Montessori program is available at Pomeroy Elementary School.
Families that register during the summer will be contacted later in July about availability at the school they specify.
