While there is a large amount of funding for higher education available, the mounds of paperwork can be intimidating.
Students needing financial aid for college can receive assistance from a national initiative called College Goal Sunday taking place Sunday, Feb. 10, at multiple locations in or near the Valley.
In Mesa, Arizona State University’s Polytechnic Campus (Peralta Hall, 7001 E. Williams Field Road) and Mesa Community College (Elsner Library, 1833 W. Southern Ave.) will host the event. Other regional events are taking place at ASU’s Tempe campus (Lattie F. Coor Building, 10th Street and Myrtle Avenue), as well as in Casa Grande at Central Arizona College (1015 E. Florence Blvd.). All events are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Financial aid professionals will be on hand to help students comlete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Students should have the following paperwork available to properly fill out the forms: Any income information, Federal tax returns, W-2 forms and Social Security card.
Students who participate in College Goal Sunday and complete the online survey following the event are eligible to win a Kindle Fire HD or a $1,000 scholarship.
