Students from Apache Junction Unified School District's Cactus Canyon Junior High School gave an impressive performance at a math competition this month at Central Arizona College's San Tan Center. Students from 10 schools were given a 10-question, multiple-choice, individual quiz before splitting up to work in teams of two to test problem-solving skills. Of the 20 students who qualified for the final round based on their individual and team scores, six were from Cactus Canyon.
Cactus Canyon was named the overall winner. Jordan Bell was awarded first place in the individual competition and teamed with Erskine Thompson to take second place in the team competition.
