Lawyers for a Mexican immigrant who had a romantic relationship with Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu denied allegations that their client hacked into online accounts for Babeu’s congressional campaign.

Adnan Horan, an attorney for Jose Orozco, says Thursday that his client had previously helped Babeu create and maintain campaign websites as a volunteer, but handed back over information on the sites after the relationship between his client and the sheriff soured.

The state’s solicitor general is leading an investigation into allegations that Babeu abused his power.

Horan says his client intends to cooperate with investigators.

Babeu has denied claims that he tried to threaten Orozco with deportation if their past relationship was made public.

The sheriff has said the allegations were an attempt to hurt his political career.

Horan sounded like an idiot on the news tonight. He talked so slow it was difficult to listen to him yap about his client.
