With the Fourth of July right around the corner, the City of Mesa has a few recommendations to keep residents’ pets safe and comfortable throughout the upcoming commotions.

Due to the lights, noise and action created during large-scale firework shows and by the use of legally-permitted fireworks through July 4, the city recommends pet owners ensure their animals wear ID tags at all times; keep pets at home for firework shows and leave the television or radio on while out to limit noise exposure; and never leave pets inside vehicles.

Pet owners whose animals escape and people who find lost animals can contact the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Center by calling either (602) 506-7387 for a shelter tour and (480) 644-2268 to pick up a found pet. The office is closed on July 4, but is otherwise open every Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
