The folks at AZ RESCUE say it doesn’t take long to become totally enamored by 2-year-old Penelope, a sweet pit bull mix with soulful eyes and a gentle disposition. She was rather shy when she was first rescued, but has since come out of her shell. Now she loves to be outdoors and take in the world around her.

Penelope really comes alive at the dog park, where she makes the rounds from dog to dog, and engages in friendly sessions of chase and tug-of-war. She is very loving with the people she knows best and is always happy to end her day by taking her spot in bed with you.

Penelope finds security with other dogs around so she needs to be in a home with another canine or two. Her new family will need to have patience with her as well.

For more information on Penelope, or other deserving animals, call Reducing Animal Euthanasia at Shelters through Commitment and Underlying Education at (480) 598-9410 or visit www.azrescue.org. The cost of adoption is $125 for cats and $150 for dogs, which includes spaying and neutering and some inoculations.
