Mountain View at No. 10 Red Mountain

The annual Battle of Brown Road will be a doozy. Red Mountain was just starting to get on a roll with consecutive wins until a 17-7 loss to Desert Ridge, in which the Lions’ defense again showed its improvement but the offense (which was hot entering the game) couldn’t go anywhere against the Desert Ridge defense. Mountain View’s defense isn’t quite as stout, and the key here will be whether Red Mountain can find its offense and to what degree the Toros remain hampered by injuries. Mountain View won 42-24 against Mesa last week, but it was a 28-21 game heading into the fourth quarter. Can the Lions contain Mountain View’s big-play guys in QB John Clark and WR Clark Brown? Can the Toros contain QB Caleb Murray-Thomas and force Red Mountain into turnovers, a season-long problem?

Prediction: Red Mountain 27, Mountain View 24
