Outdoors-Hiking Battlefields

This Sunday, April 6, 2014 photo shows an outbuilding on the Thomas farm where fighting took place on the Monocacy National Battlefield south of Frederick, Md. The battle, which took place on July 9, 1864, is credited with delaying the Confederate move toward Washington, D.C. There are more than 300 miles of trails to explore in the 24 national parks designated as sites of significant Civil War battles. (AP Photo/Carole Feldman)
