There are some big changes happening over at, the online home of the Get Out section.

Stop by, and you’ll notice we’ve made it easier for you to find what you’re looking for, putting the latest in events, performance, dining, movies, local treasures and the great Arizona outdoors at your fingertips.

Some of those changes will be reflected here, in the printed newspaper, too.

The reason is simple: We want to make your life easier and better.

See, at Get Out, we have a passion for, well, getting you out — out of the house and out on the town, yes, but more to the heart of it, out of a rut.

We all fall into the trap, from time to time, of thinking there’s nothing to do out there. Other times, we’re so caught up in what it takes just to keep our homes, families and jobs running, we couldn’t do something fun if it knocked us in the face; we think we don’t have time to throw on the brakes and just play.

Get Out is here to remind you that you do.

We happen to think the East Valley is a pretty great place to live — and we can say that with conviction because we make our homes in Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa. We’re out there with you, dropping off kids and picking up coffee on the way to work, popping into the grocery store on the way home, and trying, in between it all, to live a little with our spouses, children, relatives and friends.

One thing we’ve learned is that there are an abundance of experiences out there. Our area is chock-full of events and places where you can make the most of those moments when you do slow down. Our mission is to connect you with them, so you and yours can plug into this place we all call home.

Our hope is that you feel a little richer for it. And that we’re all a little richer for it, frankly — because we only get out of something what we put into it. If we want to love where we live, it starts with us.

So, please, join us. Become part of the Get Out community. If you haven’t already, create a free user i.d. and password under the Get Published tab at You can use it to come back time and time again to comment on stories, post events (for free!) on the things-to-do calendar, and share your own photos, stories or reviews with us. We’ll publish online most of what you share. Occasionally, we’ll even spotlight your work in the printed paper.

If you’re the social media type, you can also connect with us on Facebook and Twitter. will continue to evolve, as we add more content and more voices hand-picked to bring you experiences worth checking out. We’ll also take into account what you have to say, so please email us your feedback to

Of course, you can’t go out all the time. For those moments when you feel like staying in, East Valley Tribune has you covered there, too — in its brand-new online Life section. Go to for a wealth of material on food and recipes, home and garden, health and fitness, TV, pets and travel.
