A good man is hard to find, but so is a good guide. Consequently, the Heard Museum is recruiting community members for their “Las Guias” guild — a group of volunteer museum guides passionate about Indian art, history and culture in the Southwest.
Guides are required to take a weekly, seven-month class, which starts Tuesday, Oct. 2, and features multiple day trips. After becoming certified guides, Las Guias participants lead 30 tours or talks a year, assisting the 200,000 visitors that come through the museum annually. The last day to register for the fall docent class is Sept. 27.
The first class is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2. Tuition is $150. For more information, call (602) 249-0553 or visit heardguild.org.
